Philippe Meslin is an award-winning French artist whose paintings have been widely exhibited in France. He describes his figurative style as leaving room for imagination and interpretation. Meslin's main subjects are seascapes and cityscapes. He is particularly inspired by the Bay of Mont Saint Michel, Italy and New York. He creates with oils, mainly with knives, on linen.

Philippe Meslin was born in PONTORSON in the Manche department and lives in VERN SUR SEICHE near RENNES. Since his earliest childhood, he was attracted to graphic arts and liked to express himself through drawing. He discovered his love for painting in 1990. "The passion for drawing has always been a natural part of my life. From a young age, I had the desire to reproduce the things I saw. I started with chalk on a blackboard and then very quickly switched to charcoal and ink. The discovery of colour in 1990 was a big step forward in my artistic research. After two years at the art academy in Rennes, I started painting. At first, my paintings exclusively depicted seascapes, the Bay of Mont Saint Michel and the Emerald Coast, where I had spent my childhood." After trying different techniques (acrylic, pastel, watercolour...etc.), he now prefers oil on canvas. He mainly uses the knife to paint his pictures. His favourite subjects are: Landscapes of the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel, seashores, cityscapes, Italy, New York.
